About Muttmeisters

Muttmeisters provides a first class UK pet transport service and local pet services in Powys, Herefordshire and Shrophire.

We primarily serve consumers in the local area within a 10 mile radius of Knighton. However, our pet transport service is available to both consumers and business customers throughout the UK mainland. We're well placed for Birmingham and the West Midlands, Wales, the South West and North West of England.

Muttmeisters was set up by Anne Donnelly who has a passion for animals. She has many years' experience with dogs and in particular German Shepherds. She is also used to dealing with reactive and difficult dogs.

Background from the owner and Chief Muttmeister:

I decided to set up Muttmeisters as I wanted to combine my passion for animals and experience of handling difficult dogs, into a pet services business. So after a lot of deliberation I decided to buy myself a van and get it converted so that I could start my pet transport and other pet services business. That's basically how Muttmeisters began.

I'm an avid dog lover, and owner of 4 very street dogs, which I rescued whilst living in Egypt for 5 years. I relocated Turkey in 2019 and finally moved back to the UK in 2021. Naturally, my dogs came with me.

About my dogs:

Gizmo and Diva are siblings, mixed Canaan breed. I rescued them at 10 weeks old back in 2014. Gizmo is a bit of a heart-breaker, he's so adorable and a bit 'special' and Diva is as the name suggests, a law unto herself, but she's so cute with it. Bella, a Canaan, was rescued a few months after. I found her emaciated and at death's door when she was a few months old. I found Scooby, an adolescent German Shepherd, a couple of years later wandering the street. His back legs were severely malformed and he was malnourished. German Shepherds hold a very special place in my heart so I had to help him. Since moving back to Wales my dogs are much happier and have changed their perspective on people in general, as people are much kinder to dogs here than what they were used to in the past.

Years before, I had 2 other German Shepherds, Scooby the 1st and Topsy, both of whom lived until a ripe old age of 16. Scooby the first was a large, rather over protective, pedigree male and Topsy was a more demure female. They were the best of friends, together with my cat Sophie. All three were inseparable. I've had 6 cats too. Siblings Sophie and Louie. Two tabbies called Mungo and Midge and a chocolate long haired kitten called Pepsi. And finally, before I moved to Egypt I rescued a huge tabby called Phoebe, who was adopted by my sister when I left the country.

I have grown up with medium to large dogs since the 70s. All of my family have had or currently have a number of dogs, so have plenty of experience, especially with larger reactive dogs. So that's all about Muttmeisters and our animal brigade in full. You could say my love for dogs is hereditary, but it's certainly what keeps me sane.
