About MuttMeisters
MuttMeisters provides a first class DEFRA approved pet transport service in Wales and the UK. We also offer local pet services in Knighton, Powys and nearby Herefordshire and Shropshire.
Overview of MuttMeisters
We are a national DEFRA approved pet transporter based in Powys in Wales. We hold an animal transporter authorisation (type 2 'conditional'), which permits us to operate within the UK.
We cover the whole of the UK (including Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man).
We also provide a local pet taxi/dog chauffeur service in and around Knighton. Plus Doggy Days Out in Wales. Other local services in Knighton include dog sitting and dog walking,
Being right on the Wales/England border we're well located for all of Wales, West Midlands, South West and North West of England.
About the owner and Chief MuttMeister, Anne Donnelly:
I decided to set up MuttMeisters as I wanted to combine my passion for animals into a pet services business.
So after a lot of deliberation I bought myself a small van and got it converted to start my pet transport and pet services business.
That's basically how MuttMeisters began.
I'm an avid dog lover, and owner of 4 (now 3) very smart street dogs, which I rescued whilst living in Egypt for 5 years.
I relocated Turkey in 2019 and finally moved back to the UK in 2021. Naturally, my dogs came with me.
About my dogs:
Gizmo and Diva, mixed Canaan breeds, are siblings. I rescued them at the age of 10 weeks in 2014.
Gizmo is a bit of a heart-breaker. He's so adorable and a bit 'special'. Diva, as the name suggests, is a law unto herself, but she's so cute with it.
Bella, is a rare Canaan breed. I rescued her off the street when she was a few months old. I found her emaciated and at death's door. She dotes on me now.
I found Scooby, an adolescent German Shepherd, a couple of years later wandering the street. His back legs were severely malformed and he was malnourished.
German Shepherds hold a very special place in my heart so I had to help him. Scooby unfortunately passed away in May 2025.
Since moving back to Wales my dogs are much happier and more trusting of people in general.
Years before I had 2 other German Shepherds, Scooby the 1st and Topsy, both of whom lived until a ripe old age of 16.
Scooby the 1st was a large, rather over protective, pedigree male. His sidekick, Topsy, was a more demure female. They were the best of friends.
We also had a calico cat called Sophie who ruled the roost! All three were inseparable.
I previously had 6 other cats: Siblings Sophie and Louie; Two tabbies called Mungo and Midge; and a long haired kitten called Pepsi.
And finally, I rescued a huge tabby called Phoebe, who was adopted by my sister when I moved to Egypt.
I have grown up with medium to large dogs since the 70s so have a lot of experience, especially with German Shepherds.
I'm DBS checked, fully insured and a certified pet first aider.
So that's all about MuttMeisters and our animal brigade in full.
You could say my love for dogs is inherent, but it's certainly what keeps me sane.
