For all those wonderful people who work in the pet industry
Having dealt with several rescuers and animal charities, we’re beginning to understand just how much work goes into finding homes for abandoned pets. We often are the ones taking them to their new homes, or to a foster carer and in some sad cases from owners relinquishing them to rescues.
Many rescuers are not registered charities and rely on self funding. Such as Rescue Paws based in Suffolk. These small independently run organisations need a little bit more help raising the extra cash to cover expenses. Things such as pet transport, dog and cat food, and veterinary bills etc. The logistics of it all can be a nightmare to say the least.
They will tell you it can be a thankless task. However, they continue to work tirelessly in order to save these poor pets. Rescuers have to work to often tight deadlines. They encounter delays and timewasters that can hinder that process. Meanwhile, the expenses go up and up and the funds go down and down.
The only consolation is it’s all all worth it just to see all these innocent pets go to their forever homes. It’s a sad fact that some of these pets would no longer be with us otherwise.
So we, especially, would like to take our hats off to you all.
Many of these rescuers rely on the generosity of other volunteers for transport, who don’t ordinarily have the legally required DEFRA license. However, in order to save these poor souls they can risk being fined. It’s a fine balance.
It would ultimately be in the pet’s best interests to be transported by professional transporters who must adhere to strict animal welfare guidelines.
That being said, we’re sadly finding that many don’t have the available funds, thus can’t afford the costs of hiring a DEFRA licensed transporter.
In light of this we’ve been thinking about how we can help, even if it’s just in a small way.
So we’re pleased to announce that we’re officially launching our brand new affiliate programme.
It’s open to all pet related activity such as charities and businesses.
