Our Vehicle
We’ve designed our vehicle specifically for the safety and comfort of your animals. Whether it’s a short trip to the vet or a long-distance relocation, your pet will be our VIP (Very Important Pet):
- Safe & Secure Housing: 5 custom-built cages, each equipped with an emergency escape hatch for total peace of mind. One large, 2 medium and 2 small cages.
- Pet friendly environment: Fully insulated, heated, and ventilated.
- Premium Comfort: Each cage features anti-slip flooring, quilted linings, and cosy bedding to support joints.
- Constant Monitoring: A dedicated viewing area allows us to check on your pet directly from the cab throughout the journey. We also monitor the temperature in the back of the van constantly from the cab.
- Hygiene First: We use DEFRA approved disinfectant and maintain strict sanitisation standards to prevent cross-contamination.
Our Obligations
We hold a DEFRA Animal Transporter Authorisation Type 2 which permits us to transport dogs, cats, Lagomorpha and Rodentia anywhere in the UK. We can cover any length of UK pet transport journey and also collect/deliver to airports and Border Control Posts. It also means we have to adhere to strict animal welfare guidelines.
To keep your pet safe, we will stop and check on them throughout the journey. Your pet will be offered water, and food if necessary, and toilet breaks when needed. We endeavour to ensure your pet will have a comfortable and stress free ride.
Although it’s not mandated by DEFRA, we do prefer that pets have up to date vaccinations prior to travel. We also recommend they are flea and worm treated. This is to avoid any potential cross contamination and to protect vulnerable pets. All dogs must also be micro-chipped, and all cats if transiting through England as this is a legal requirement in the UK.
Puppies and Kittens
We can take puppies and kittens under the age of 6 months if purchased from a licensed breeder or adopted through an animal charity or rescue organisation. We would strongly encourage our clients to read up on Lucy’s Law before purchasing a puppy or kitten as there are some unscrupulous online sellers out there. Always ask to see the new born with its mother where it was born and check they have been microchipped and wormed and preferably had their first round of jabs before thinking about purchasing.
If they’re a breeder they should have a license and be able to provide you with all the necessary documentation for the pet. If the seller cannot do this it could be a red flag. We work closely with registered rescue organisations to ensure vulnerable animals are moved under strict legal compliance. We are proud approved transport partners for: Paws of Hope Bulldog Rescue and Basil’s Forever Sofa. We also work with the Pointer Rescue Service, The Cinnamon Trust and other rescue organisations and private customers too. Please note that we are not licensed to carry people so you will not be able to travel with your pets.
How it works
We will collect your pet and deliver to the requested destination in our professional pet transport vehicle. MuttMeisters is DEFRA licensed, ensuring a safe and comfortable VIP ride.
- Pricing: First of all, we’ll quote you for the transport job. You will need to provide the collection and destination postcodes. Cost is worked out on the overall round trip time and mileage. If you’re happy with the cost you can go ahead and book.
- Preparation: Once your booking is confirmed we’ll go over the requirements with you leading up to the collection date.
- On the day: We will send you a WhatsApp message once we’re leaving home and share our route progress with you so you can track us. You’ll know exactly when we will arrive at the collection address. You will also receive updates at each rest stop.
What happens next?
Before we confirm, you will need to make a booking request using our online booking calendar. Simply hit the ‘request booking’ button below. Choose the date that you would like to book your trip and fill in the pop up form and submit.
There is nothing to pay at this stage. Once we’ve reviewed your form, we will send over an invoice so we can reserve your space. A 25% non-refundable booking fee is required to secure the date. Once the booking fee has been received we’ll then confirm your booking.
The remaining balance is due 7 days before travel. You will be able to see your booking(s) in your account when you log in. For all your pet transport and relocation needs we’re happy to assist, please get in touch

Anne Donnelly
Chief Muttmeister and business owner is Anne, and she has many years’ experience with dogs and cats and has 3 large dogs that she rescued from Egypt. Anne has owned several German Shepherds and Canaan breeds, so she has a lot of experience with larger and reactive dogs. She is also an experienced driver, having passed her test first time back in 1984. Anne holds Type a 2 Animal Transporter Authorisation. She is also DBS checked and a certified pet first aider.
