Arranging transportation for your pets can be a worrying time. Who do you trust? Are they licensed? Do they follow strict animal guidelines? You will have many questions and we are here to answer those questions and make sure you get the best care and attention possible for your pet. As DEFRA approved animal transporters we must adhere to strict guidelines in all aspects of pet transportation. We hold a Type 2 'conditional' transporter authorisation which permits us to transport cats, dogs and rabbits anywhere with the UK only, and up to a maximum of 12 hour journeys from the onloading/collection to the final destination/offloading of the animal.
Our pet transport taxi service is based in Knighton, Powys. So we are well located for Wales. We are also right on the border of Shropshire and Herefordshire, so Birmingham in the West Midlands, Liverpool and Manchester in the North West, and Bristol in the South West of the UK are all within easy reach. Our van is fully equipped with purpose built cages that have escape hatches for quick exit in emergency situations. The cages are lined with anti-slip flooring and are very spacious. The van itself is fully insulated and ventilated and we also provide floor coverings and wool filled cushions for your pet's comfort.
Be wary of transporters who do not have a transport authority as they will not operating withing the parameters of animal welfare standards laid out by DEFRA. If you want to go with your pets the transporter must carry a license from their local authority as it's effectively classed as a taxi service if people travel in the vehicle with them. Unfortunately, we don't allow 2 legged travellers in our van, only the 4 legged furry kind.
In relation to pet sitting, you should also make sure that anyone visiting your home to look after your pet is trustworthy. Our pet sitters are DBS checked and pet first aid trained - although neither is a legal requirement for pet services, but it will give you peace of mind. Being avid pet lovers with years of experience owning large dogs and cats, you can rest assured we're very compassionate about animals and will make it our mission to ensure your pets are well cared for when you're not there.

Most of our local services are available within a 5-10 mile radius of Knighton, but we may still be able to accommodate you if you're outside of that area. Just ask.

I was recommended to contact Anne by kennels where the dog I was pet sitting for stays. Anne’s communication was amazing before, during and after the trip. I booked a drop off at the kennels, and it was only a short trip (30 mins travel) but Anne’s passion and care shone through in organising this. She arrived at the time she said , the van was immaculate and suitable for the large dog she was transporting and her whole demeanour from the van to her uniform was totally professional. Meeting Anne on the day, you could immediately feel the warmth and love she has for animals.

What can I not say about this service. From the first email sent to Muttmeisters to the end delivery, everything ran smoothly, and the lady was brilliant with my new rescue dog, she knew she was nervous and still went out of her way to keep Sandy (at the time that was her name) as calm as possible. I would recommend this service to anybody who wishes to transport animals, truly caring people I can’t praise them any higher, and that is something coming from me who does not give praise lightly.

Booking my new dog’s transport was a simple process and I felt confident that Muttmeisters had the required expertise for the job and also had fully considered my dog’s health and safety during the journey. Communication throughout was excellent, I knew when my dog started his journey and an approximate ETA. Anne cared about my dog and was very good even though he has had a difficult past and is very frightened of people and changes to his life. Yogi was handled compassionately. The price was also very competitive and saved me the journey, which meant my time was free for my other dogs. I would recommend this service.

Anne transported our sensitive Bengal cat on a 5+ hour journey (house move). She put our minds at ease explaining how she would check on him throughout the trip.
